Tiny Slumber Party
11 April 2016 19:13Finally, finally they've found all their suddenly younger friends and managed to get them into the Blue Room to sleep at least one night-- with the result that most of the floor outside the kitchen is currently a sprawl of mattresses and children, made as ready for bed as Joly could convince each of them to allow.
(at request, slumber party post! Tag in wherever you like, talk to anyone else tagging in whenever you want, here or in the Morning subthread.)
(at request, slumber party post! Tag in wherever you like, talk to anyone else tagging in whenever you want, here or in the Morning subthread.)
Morning!
Date: 12 Apr 2016 01:19 (UTC)Joly's not asleep. He's not. He wouldn't mind being asleep, but he has no idea how that can happen, with so many people who are so small and anything could happen to them and how do parents ever sleep--
But he must sleep, because the next thing he hears is a familiarly deep grumble, and then a pause, and then there's definitely- an-adult-Bahorel sitting up in middle of the heap of mattresses and children (still wearing a long loose nightshirt and not anything more Romantic, and Joly says an internal thanks to Milliways magic) and saying, in what Bahorel probably thinks is a quiet voice, "What the devil did we all drink?"
All right, it's only Bahorel re-aged now, but it is Bahorel, and if everyone else is still children, they're also still asleep. Which means Joly can, in clinical terms, completely freak out. In a low voice, so he doesn't wake the children, but still.
So one lengthy and rather frazzled explanation and a decent amount of medicinal alcohol later (Joly's a doctor, and thus entirely ready to swear that when he serves alchohol it's medicinal by default), there's a change of adult supervision (although Joly left Bahorel with Very Stern Commands to wake him back up if 'anything happens, anything at all', for what little they both know that's worth).
Bahorel is of course treating the situation with all the seriousness it deserves. Which means that he has breakfasts ready to cook the minute people start moving, and is now considering potential Fun and Only Mildly Deadly Activities For All Ages. And also that he, unlike some people who he cannot even believe missed this chance, has obtained a flashless camera and a video recorder.
This is so going in the scrapbook.
Re: Morning!
Date: 12 Apr 2016 02:27 (UTC)There's a strange grownup here. Quickly Jean buries his head under the blankets, to hide.
Re: Morning!
Date: 12 Apr 2016 02:43 (UTC)When that isn't apparently happening, he says , rather casually "Blankets only hide us from fairy foes, Jean Pétion. You'd know that; L'Opinion always says you knew about things that mattered." That's true, he does. "And I'm not fairie or foe, so you might come out and share breakfast; it's plain human food, even, and you shouldn't miss that here."
Re: Morning!
Date: 12 Apr 2016 02:49 (UTC)Jean pokes his head out of the blanket pile. "You know L'Opinion? Who are you? His father?"
He does look kind of like L'Opinion.
Re: Morning!
Date: 12 Apr 2016 02:57 (UTC)..Hey, it's all true.
Re: Morning!
Date: 12 Apr 2016 03:02 (UTC)Still, he's too curious not to let one question slip:
"Are you his little brother, all grown up?"
Then he puts his hands over his mouth. "Sorry," he says, "you don't have to tell."
Remembering his manners, he says, "It's nice to meet you, monsieur."

Date: 12 Apr 2016 12:40 (UTC)But somehow he's managed to end up sacked out flat in a sunbeam, half in and half on top of a tangle of flatteringly blue blankets, right under a golden cherub's artistically benevolent eye.
But eventually he does sit up, rubbing his eyes and blinking at the room.
It's still weird. And unfamiliar, and he misses his home and his father. And he's hungry. But it's full of kids who are his friends and allies, so -- so it's pretty okay for now anyway.
Re: Morning!
Date: 12 Apr 2016 13:28 (UTC)Yes, it's aggressively mundane, but the fantastic is already here, so some dramatic contrast is needed. Also, cherubs. Cherubs are here. Bahorel isn't surprised that Enjolras as a child doesn't care any more about that than Enjolras as an adult, but he is amused that now it looks like Enjolras is ignoring a winged relation.
Re: Morning!
Date: 12 Apr 2016 13:33 (UTC)(Apparently the bleariness upon waking up is also something that started early.)
"Eggs?"
That's either a question, or the answer.
"Who are you?" Vous. Monsieur, citizen--? He fumbles his way out of the blankets.

Re: Morning!
Date: 13 Apr 2016 15:17 (UTC)He's talking in a quiet, early-morning voice--for him. Which means Jeannot can definitely hear him just fine.
Re: Morning!
Date: 13 Apr 2016 16:10 (UTC)Jeannot is cleaner than the last time l'Opinion saw him, and has been put into a new shirt. He takes a few wary steps closer, without quite committing to anything. "Are you a friend of M. Joly's?" A friend from Lyon: he can hear that still in the man's speech.

Then he looks over the big boy's shoulder at the pages of the book.

Date: 15 Apr 2016 01:12 (UTC)But now there are more of his friends' voices--their real voices-- and he wakes all the way up with a jolt. Everyone's up? Aged up?
(subthread for people to be grown-ups and talk over the weekend, if they want! bahorel or Joly can both be tagged off this, too.)
Re: Morning, After
Date: 15 Apr 2016 01:18 (UTC)Here is Feuilly looking absolutely mortified, and shuffling awkwardly towards the exit unless someone catches him first.
Re: Morning, After
Date: 15 Apr 2016 15:30 (UTC)"Eggs are ready!" Bahorel sings cheerfully, not loudly enough to wake the others but more than loud enough to be heard. And annoying.
Welcome back to adulthood, Feuilly!
