Joly comes downstairs with a fairly large crate floating along beside him, apparently supported by a couple of large clamps on either end, and a small cart trundling along under it. He looks around for Sameth as he reaches the main room; they'd agreed to meet today, but coordination is always a little tricky in Milliways. He can grab a drink if he needs to wait!

Sameth is at the counter finishing up some breakfast, he's in more comfortable working clothes and stands up when he sees Joly, "Hello."

"Hello!" Joly grins. "It's not raining. Shall we head out? Oh!--" He stops next to Bar. "Madame Bar, could we have a couple of safety helmets?"

And there the helmets are, shiny and covered in that wonderful plastic material. Joly sets them both on the floating crate. "Will you open the door?"

He blinks at the helmets but shrugs and moves to open the door for Joly and the crates.

Hey, there's no reason not to follow safety procedures in your mad science, right? Right!

Joly pauses the crate and takes out a sort of complicated-looking harness, a set of wings something like a dragonfly's, and what looks like a very large alloy-encased backpack. As he starts assembling it all on the top of the crate, he asks "So, aside from dull dinners, what's been keeping you busy on your side of the Door?"

"Various repairs to Charter Stones and a couple of little projects. Which part is going to fly?" He's trying to figure out how it all works.

[merryeccentricities]

"Well--" Joly moves one of the wings a little, but only a little. "These should move something like they would for the original insect--I've had to make allowances for scale, of course, the physics do change-- and then it should float on its own, something like the crate is doing now. The motor and the antigrav are in here." He taps the backpack bit lightly. "And it's built to respond to movements from the person wearing the harness, though I'm very sure I'll need to make so many alterations there once I've sorted the basics. But for right now it should go up and down and faster or slower well enough."

"Ah, its sort of like a smaller version of a Paperwing but more focused on you. What did you make the wings out of?"

[merryeccentricities]

" The support--what looks sort of like veins?--it's an aluminum-based alloy. The clear bits are a very hard mineral, it's almost plastic but --have you heard of silicon? It's like that in some of its properties, but it's from another planet than Earth entirely."says the mun, handwaving because this is based on alien science . "I could never have made it on Earth, not at all."

"I've heard of all those materials but I don't think I've seen them used that way before. The veining is a clever idea. How were you able to achieve it?"

Its something he might be able to make work with the Charter as veins are a good type of reinforcing.
